Redefining: Fear

Generally-accepted definition:

Fear is a negative feeling induced by a perceived threat.

Also see:  Wikipedia | Oxford Dictionary | howstuffworks.com | Dictionary.com

Restrictions of this definition:

Completeness: This definition reduces fear down to a feeling —or a biological reaction. But fear is more than a feeling; it is a state of being.

Precedence: This definition presents fear as a result of an external stimulus —or the object of fear. But first comes fear from within, giving rise to fearful events and things.

Proposed definition:

Fear is one of the many manifestations of death; it is also one of the opposites of love.
